Review on M Wave 439982 Bicycle Training Wheels by Tim Evans

IS YOUR BIKE SUITABLE?

Before you buy these training wheels, measure two things on your bike to make sure they will fit. First, as "C Tam" pointed out, you need about an inch of open threading when taking your rear wheel mounting nuts. On each side of your bike you will need to attach both a horizontal and a vertical mount. These two brackets together are about 1/2 inch thick; and you will need about a half inch of the remaining thread to securely tighten the nut on the bolt. Second (and it bit me) the horizontal bracket (needed to hold the vertical bracket) has a semicircular neck that should fit over your bike's frame and hold it in place. This semi-circular mouth is only 3/4 inch in diameter, and on my girl's Schwinn the frame was oval and about 1 inch in diameter (measured vertically). The bracket does not match the frame rendering these training wheels useless. Look at the tubular metal frame on your bike that runs horizontally from the rear axle to the pedals. Take a ruler and measure the diameter of this pipe. If the tube is oval instead of round, measure vertically. If this frame is larger than 3/4" in diameter, these training wheels will not work for you. In fact, they don't fit. I dont lie. Stepping back from the rear axle you need to measure about 4 inches from the rear axle - that's how long the horizontal bracket is. worked great. They also had a wider wheelbase than these and were made from a much heavier metal. Even if these training wheels fit your bike, I would not recommend them. you can do better
