Not "MY " training wheels.

actually NOT 50 year old training wheels; I remember VERY strong wheel stays (?). They aren't designed any better for kids than maybe 40 lb kids as they bent with 45 lb and 80 lb kids. The second problem is that some bikes have oval tube frames and are designed for round tubes. I would recommend them for kids weighing 40 pounds with 16 inch bikes.

Pros
  • few competitors
Cons
  • weak

Works for my daughter's 20 inch bike!

My only complaint is that the chain guard is behind the pedal which we couldn't put back on because the bolt on the jockey wheel doesn't have enough clearance so it was too thick with the guard. You can attach the chain guard as intended before installing the jockey wheels. So we need to remove the protection part to make it work.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quality

Wheel broken into pieces

We got a nice little bike for Christmas that didn't have training wheels so I put them on it. My husband and FIL wore them to bed for our 2.5 year old daughter yesterday. She got up this morning and was so excited to see the bike that she jumped on it right away. We put the bike outside after sleeping and while we were getting the kids up and getting ready my husband went outside to get the bike ready and the wheel broke and cut his hand. I hate thinking about what would have happened if she…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Hard to say

Not good for kids bikes and accessories

They don't actually work very well. There wasn't good stability and either the rear wheel was too far off the ground or the training wheels were too long. I finally found the best fit they could give, but the rear tire is still not fully on the ground. If the pedals turn too fast, only the wheel turns. Also, training wheels are not great for beginners because they don't provide enough support for a child who is off balance. The bike can easily tip over. This would be good for a child…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Upgradable

These wheels are poorly finished and don't wear!

My first review and as much as I hate writing it I really, really would like to urge any parent that these training wheels are *not good*, please read the reviews. My daughter has 2 bikes (parents and therefore 2 bikes). These training wheels were the reason my daughter fell off her bike about 10 times during a 3 block park walk. In the park she refused to cycle which is strange, we used her other bike and she never fell. She likes to ride a bike but these bikes I got from here aren't supported

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

IS YOUR BIKE SUITABLE?

Before you buy these training wheels, measure two things on your bike to make sure they will fit. First, as "C Tam" pointed out, you need about an inch of open threading when taking your rear wheel mounting nuts. On each side of your bike you will need to attach both a horizontal and a vertical mount. These two brackets together are about 1/2 inch thick; and you will need about a half inch of the remaining thread to securely tighten the nut on the bolt. Second (and it bit me) the horizontal…

Pros
  • Very fast delivery
Cons
  • Crumpled
