The camera didn't work

I had a delay installing this item but when I finally installed it the camera was not working. The extra cable activated the camera function on the car radio, but the picture never came. I got a tailgate handle and a different brand of camera because I couldn't just get a different camera. Recently ordered camera and pen installed and worked straight away.
