My mom always carried a tiny tape measure in her purse. It's so tiny you have to guess between the inch lines because you can't read them. This one has a wider band and stretches longer and also has a locking mechanism, but the best part is you can read the damn thing too! Also, it's lightweight so it's not too heavy and uncomfortable when I carry it in my purse or pocket.
