I purchased six (6) of these bases on the advertised custom width statement and claimed it was an easy DIY job. I wanted a 31" width, but since 37" was the only size available and a "custom width" is advertised, I ordered six of these. After reading the instructions and watching the instruction video, I found that these shades are not that easy to set up. What you really need is pliers, a hammer, metal scissors and lots of band-aids. None of them are working properly at the moment. The roller mechanism is cheap, the "adjustable" stem isn't easy to insert without damaging the round aluminum end, and then the cap doesn't fit without a lot of bending with pliers. Keep band-aids nearby, I cut three fingers during this project. In my opinion this product looks much better and is easier to install than it actually is.
