Review on Blackstone 1813 Tabletop Griddle Stainless by Dean Ledet

Love it. Cooks and looks great.

I used to work in the kitchen and have always liked the pan's ease of use for cooking, but I never thought of buying one for my home. Ultimately, targeted advertising drew me to this product so much that when it went on sale I decided to go for the 22" version. When this pan arrived I thought I made a mistake and bought the 17" version and it almost had to send it back as the box seemed so big and heavy but I'm so glad I didn't, anything else would be too much for me as I rarely have cooked for more than 4 people but I could if needed easily cook burgers, gyros, cheesesteaks, etc. on this thing for 10-15+ people.I bought a stand and am amazed at how good it looks.Depending on what you're looking for, a 17" screen might fit the bill for you but the dual temperature control is great for reheating buns while cooking meat I won't finish but I would 100% recommend making it "simple" and using canola oil esp ers if you have never seasoned it before. I seasoned my skillet with two batches of canola oil, then made a bag of bacon for the third layer and threw some garlic, ginger, and scallions on the grill like I'm seasoning a wok. Others have commented that the surface of the pan could have been smoother, but for practical reasons the pan is still very easy to clean, and a slightly "rough" surface can actually help produce a slightly better sear. not so good) and rub down with a layer of canola if it's not too dirty. When it gets very dirty I use coarse salt, water and a sponge whip.

Pros
  • Decent performance
