Review on Magellan Maestro 3250 3 5 Inch Navigator by Tony Kingdom

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Confusing and barely acceptable

I had a Garmin that worked like a charm for 3 years and then failed. When looking for a replacement, I wanted a thin GPS that could fit in a shirt pocket and still have all the functionality of my old one. This one seemed to fit the bill and more. Well, the size is okay, but it has a lot of quirks and problems. First, if you turn it off, either because you've reached your destination or you know you're close enough that you don't need it, the next time you turn it on, it'll assume you're at one no matter where you are place you disabled. We used it for a trip to Pennsylvania and the next time we used it in North Carolina it gave us directions as if we were still in Philadelphia. It has to be canceled every time. Voice recognition doesn't work at all either. Aside from SOMETIMES understanding the word "Magellan" as the next clue, it doesn't recognize any other voice command, which is about as bad as the voice recognition programs our cable company uses that are driving me nuts. So overall not bad but I would never choose him knowing what I know now.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Clarity
