Great value for money

My first experience with the Magellan 3250 was very positive. He was very accurate. I used it yesterday to plan a route to 5 locations and it took me to each one individually and stopped in place. It was even enough to tell me if the space was on the right or left (I've heard don't do this). And the redirect was automatic, although you can also redirect manually. I intentionally made a wrong turn, the unit announced they would change route and then continued on the new route. I've read that…

Excellent customer service

Magellan Maestro 3250 3.5" Handheld GPS Very good device and I am very happy with the 3250. Yes you have to hold the button for two seconds release and it is thru will turn it on for a second but ok. And yes to turn it off you have to hold the button for about three to four seconds before it turns off again, big deal. It gets me to my destination, warns me of traffic problems and does whatever it takes. As far as their customer support goes it's just amazing. I've used them several times for…

Durability: Not good for car GPS

I bought this item in late 2008, early 2009 Magellan had to replace it. It stopped completely in early 2010, not before I paid for a Traffic Links subscription and purchased a new OEM charging cable direct from Magellan. After calling Magellan to inquire about a possible repair, I offered to pay. I've been told they don't do repairs but can trade them in for a new one as part of their "loyalty program". The price was higher than I could get online and of course the unit sold was refurbished and

Confusing and barely acceptable

I had a Garmin that worked like a charm for 3 years and then failed. When looking for a replacement, I wanted a thin GPS that could fit in a shirt pocket and still have all the functionality of my old one. This one seemed to fit the bill and more. Well, the size is okay, but it has a lot of quirks and problems. First, if you turn it off, either because you've reached your destination or you know you're close enough that you don't need it, the next time you turn it on, it'll assume you're at one

Awesome Little Unit

Although this was my first GPS, I've looked at all the other "budget" Garmins, TomToms, HK, etc. You can always justify spending another $20 here or there and pretty soon have a $700 device. I prefer the 3250's interface to the competition - simple, intuitive, fewer screens. It works great especially with the firmware update which sealed the deal for me. The advantages were: - Text-to-speech - nice street names to hear. - price (low!) - user interface (very basic) - display - less "cartoony"…

Magellan 3250 the best in GPS, finders and accessories

Super easy to use and great maps. I took advantage of Magellan's offer to update the installed maps. The maps were great before I did and excellent and fully updated after I did. Because of the emergency last night, I had to go to a new area and street that I was unfamiliar with. All I had to do was turn on the device, enter a new address, and go. A few minutes later I was at the front door. Another new area and road and my 3250 took me straight there! The sound is good, the streets are clearly

Great little sat nav!

I bought a Maestro 3250 to replace a Road Mate 300 that I had for several years. RM300 worked fine but outdated - no new cards. The 3250 has the same screen size but doesn't require SD cards for maps. All cards are internal. There is an SD card slot used to back up user settings and address book. The screen is very bright and easy to read on a bright, sunny day. The suction cup base works great with the included washer which I placed on top of the dash. Much easier (than the RM300) to set up a…

Started off pretty well but then had problems

Bought a Magellan 3250 GPS just before leaving for a 5 week trip to the east coast. I didn't even have time to put the CD in my computer to read the manual. Basically, we did a good job with trial and error. In some areas, like the southern tip of Maine, we had to drive in circles to find a popular lighthouse. Finally he stopped to speak to a passing lady and asked her how to get to the lighthouse. She said the GPS doesn't work here - we found that out. There were times when it seemed like it…

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Some difficulties

I caught this unit at Revain when the price dropped so I got a pretty good discount on the unit. I gave the device a four star rating based on the price I paid and further on a value for money basis compared to pure performance. Here's a critical bug I noticed. The device didn't provide the best route for the trip we just made from Dallas to Denver. The unit wanted to send us through Salina, Kansas, which would have made the journey quite long. This was the "fastest route" provided by the unit.
