Capable FTDI based serial adapters

Those of us who develop embedded systems are probably all familiar with FTDI chips. They are supported on Mac, Linux and even Windows. When I had to order a USB/RS-232 cable I thought of looking for one that uses the FTDI family of chips as I already had the drivers on all my machines. A quick search here on Revain for "FTDI" led me to this product. I just got it but since no one has reviewed it yet I thought I'd go ahead and share my first impressions. As I had hoped, it was compatible with the FTDI drivers already installed, so no additional drivers were needed. . Glad they didn't, because the drivers that came with it were on one of those annoying (and unusable for my machine) minidiscs, which is why they got four stars instead of five. In general, the device is beautifully designed. It has an LED activity indicator, which is very nice. The electronics are housed in a translucent blue DB-9 case, and it's a bit bulky. Normally this shouldn't be a problem, but if you had heavy serial connection compression this could be a problem. I am very happy with my purchase and plan to order a few more to have on hand. If you need drivers and are unable to use the minidisk, they are available on the FTDI website for Mac, Linux or Windows. If you need a USB/serial cable, especially for Mac or Linux, I think this would be a good choice.
