It keeps my basement toasted!

This is a fantastic auxiliary heater. My wife and I live in a 2,000 square foot house including an 800 square foot finished basement where we spend most of our time running this heater. We now keep our house thermostat at 62 degrees to save power and it works for us. We have all the electricity in our house. It seems to have saved us about $50 a month, but it's hard to pinpoint, we've had some abnormal weather conditions lately. getting over 65 or so in the winter without getting super hot on top so it fits perfectly and that's what it's designed for. Unless your total living space is more than 800 square feet, don't expect this heater to warm your entire home or be your only heat source. A piece of advice: keep this heater as close as possible and aim it at the area where you mainly hang out. Outside. It seems obvious, but it makes a big difference. For example, we have an editing room in a large open space. We placed this heater very close to where we were seated and it was pointed at us, so much hotter than just sitting remotely in the corner of the room. Auto Function: It heated the main basement living room (400-500 square feet) from 58 to about 68 degrees in about two hours after I turned it on, and then held that temperature pretty well. The automatic function works quite well, not great. If you keep it on Auto like we did at 68 degrees, it will ramp up to around 72-73 before turning off, then let the temp drop to around 64-65 before turning back on. I'm not sure if it can be designed to maximize energy consumption. It appears to run for about half an hour when it actually turns on. Keep in mind that it's not as accurate as your main thermostat, but it works well enough for our purposes. This is NOT a breach of contract. A little trick I found: if it gets too hot or too cold, increase or decrease the temperature setting to force the heater to check the current temperature again. A bit silly considering it's supposed to be fully automatic, but it works when it needs to. I would give 5 stars if the thermostat worked a little better. The remote control works perfectly, as do all other controls and functions. The quality is first class, real furniture material.
