Review on πŸ”§ ACDelco GM Original Equipment 15909827 Power Steering Pump - Enhanced Performance and Precision Steering by Richard Payne

Exact replacement made in China but what's the difference works great!

My 2005 Duramax had an intermittent power steering failure under braking. Investigation has determined that the power steering pump has probably failed. I've read some bad reviews about remanufactured pumps. Additional investigation showed that most pulled the pulley with the pump in the truck, but others left the pulley on the pump and pulled after removing the pump. I recently installed a new radiator and didn't want to risk damaging it, so I decided to remove the pump and pulley as a unit and remove the pulley with the pump clamped in a vise (actually the front support). It worked great. When I reinstalled the pulley, my installation tool broke. The tolerance between the shaft and pulley was so tight that it required more force than my tool from a nationally renowned Chinese tool shop could handle. I figured that cooling the shaft and heating the pulley would increase the tolerance. So I put my entire pump in the freezer and the pulley in the hot sun and went to the aforementioned tool store to buy a new puller/installer. The temperature difference was enough to easily install the pulley. I was glad I removed and installed the pulley on my stand and not in the truck as I had to remove the failed installation part from the pump itself which would have been quite difficult in a truck. Also, if a pump was installed, I couldn't just cool it. At first I was concerned that the pump was made in China but I have complete confidence in the AC Delco name. Having received, inspected and used the pump I am very happy with my choice. My biggest regret is that I didn't replace the pump when I did the cooler, it would simplify things a lot.
