After owning a Suunto T4D for several years I have decided to switch to Garmin as it seems to be a very popular watch with my friends who also run regularly and take part in competitions. While no one I know has a 220/620 yet, I made this purchase for three reasons: built-in GPS, wireless sync support, and a bright color display. I was (mostly) amazed. First off let me say this watch is WAY ahead of any sports watch I've had and after showing my friends what this watch can do I'm sure it's next. the purchase would be 620. The watch itself is not very heavy and feels very comfortable on my wrist and is nowhere as chunky or as large as the 310XT. The GPS itself is excellent - it's accurate and finds satellites quickly (seconds instead of minutes like my Suunto GPS). Another big surprise that I didn't see in any of the other reviews is how customizable this watch is. You can change each data display to show as much or as little information as possible, including what you want to show on each screen. When I run, I like to see my pace, heart rate, and how far I've run. With this watch, a few simple taps of the finger are all it takes. I also created a second data page that includes the current time of day, calories burned, and my average cadence. They call it. You can fully customize all the data you want to see during your workout, and while you're running you just have to tap the display to switch between the data screens you want to see. I don't actually use the Bluetooth function, I wanted to test the pairing of this watch with my Samsung Galaxy S4. The Garmin Connect app downloaded to my phone in just a few seconds and I used it to test while running. It works *exactly* the way you think it will. So if you intend to use this watch with your phone while running, it's been flawless in my experience. At least in the beginning I had wifi problems. My ASUS RT-66NU is only set to 802.11n and this watch cannot connect to it at all. The clock now connects and syncs securely after being reconfigured to support legacy devices (802.11g). It's truly amazing to me that I can walk my dog a few miles on a Tuesday morning, start the wireless sync when I get to my front door, and before I even have a chance to turn off the watch, the data is already there Loaded into Garmin Connect. Since purchasing the kit I have also received a heart rate chest strap. I've had several of these in the past - Polar, Suunto - and I've never found a comfortable strap out of the box. In fact, I spent extra money on my Suunto to get a "comfort strap" because the one that came with the T4D was very uncomfortable to walk on. However, Garmin definitely got it right. The strap itself is very flexible and doesn't chafe against my skin (armpits can be a bit sensitive after running 10+ miles of constant friction). The actual device that measures your heart rate detaches from the strap so you can wash it without destroying the electronics. You won't have any trouble putting the strap on or off either, as the clasp itself feels well designed. Definitely worth it if you're looking to buy a set and are concerned about the comfort of the strap. Battery life is also pretty decent and probably on par with many other Garmin watches. I found I charged the watch about every 10 days or so and ran 3 times a week. My only real disappointment with this watch is the display. Now - don't get me wrong - the data is displayed clearly and cleanly. I can easily read menus in bright light as well as in the weak morning sun. The display is also very touch sensitive and I didn't fiddle with it during the workout. But if you want a watch that not only displays screenshots but also color, you will be very disappointed. Having some colors on the display seems more of a gimmick after owning the watch and using it for a month as most of the screens you're on (especially while you're working) are black and white only LCDs . However. Also, the color of the DOES display isn't really very bright, but then again, this is a sports watch, not a gaming tablet. Definitely I recommend this watch to everyone who plays sports and does physical activity. Even though I'm disappointed with the display, I still give it 5 stars simply because it's a great watch with a lot of great features.
