Worked like a charm on Win 10 for 2005 BMW e53 4.8is
Even though the description says only for WinXP, you CAN install it on Win10 64-bit. There are several how-to videos and the BMW 1.4.0 software and drivers are freely available online if you look for them. I just cleared my trouble codes and reprogrammed the DRL options. For reference, pins 7 and 8 were already soldered together, which is what I received, which was great. The minidisk that came with it was pretty cracked, but that didn't matter since I was using downloaded software. If you get a "hardware error" then either the device is defective (poor soldering) or you didn't install the drivers before starting the software for the first time. Also, the device is FRAGILE - DO NOT THROW! I dropped my original and some solder came loose from the board and pulled the circuitry out so I'll have to buy this one.
