Review on 💾 Seagate 500GB Laptop HDD SATA 3Gb/s 8MB Cache 2.5-Inch Internal Drive Retail Kit (ST905003N1A1AS-RK) - Reliable Storage Solution for Laptops by Owen Phi

I have a 2.5" Western Digital 750GB 7200RPM Scorpio Black in my Dell E6510 quad core 1.73GHz laptop. A cold boot typically took about 90 seconds for the laptop to be ready. The new Seagate reduces the cold start time by about 20 seconds. I've noticed that programs start/quit faster; but no more than 10-20%. The extra 250GB of storage will be a plus going forward (you never have too much storage). I used a free copy of Macrium Reflect software and a CoolGear Sata to Sata HDD/SSD Sector Cloner to clone my WD 750GB to my 1TB Seagate. It only took 15-20 minutes to download the software, install it, connect the included CoolGear USB cable, connect the 1TB Seagate module to the CoolGear module and start cloning. The CoolGear hardware is useful because you can access a new hard drive before cloning and format it with Win7 Disk Management. I think it took around 8-10 hours to clone around 400GB to a new drive (didn't check until the end of the day). Just plug a new cloned drive into your laptop, boot it up, restart it, and you'll have a 100% copy of your hard drive (or a backup in case the drive fails or a virus hits you in the future). I ordered two hard drives (Primary + Backup). The second drive made a slight click/crunch/crunch when accessing data. Notified Revain of the replacement and it was dispatched and arrived at lunchtime the next day. I just cloned a new drive and within hours it was up and running. 5 stars for customer service from Revain! Given the extremely high GB cost of SSDs, this is a good compromise until prices for 750GB to 1TB SSDs drop below $200 in a few years.
