I bought this in the hope that it would make transporting my road bike in the back of a truck easier and safer (as it can't fall out or be stolen, see below). I have used several ratchet straps in the past but it has been difficult, time consuming, awkward and not very secure. My bike got lost and fell off while riding, but luckily it didn't fall off! After this naughtiness, I bought it and screwed it to the back of the truck bed with two large self-tapping screws. It changes the world. What's the point of wasting 15 minutes, now it takes 2. I remove the front wheel, lift the bike onto the platform, put the forks on the bracket, tighten, and that's it. At first I was worried that I might have to do something with the rear of the bike, but it turned out that the mount was all I needed. The bike doesn't move an inch and my truck isn't the quietest in the world. As for the lock feature, it appears to be a gimmick. Sure, the sight of a lock might put off an adventurous thief, but all a determined thief has to do is loosen the nut on the other side and pull out the axle (lock and all). I don't use the lock feature and I didn't buy it for security reasons, so I don't plan on shutting it down as it was the perfect solution to my problem. However, note that this is not the best option for protecting your bike if it is left unattended for long periods of time while traveling.
