This set is for those who already have basic knitting skills. It comes with round steel needles, but everything I've seen online advises starting with straight bamboo needles, which I bought separately. The yarn was very good, but it was a bit fuzzy, which probably isn't the best for beginners either. I ended up making a simple 15 stitch wide scarf from a ball of yarn. I thought the 50 stitch 3 skein infinity scarf was a little intimidating as a first project. So my advice is: save some money and just buy needles and thread and use the many free online tutorials to get started. Much luck!
