Review on πŸ”ͺ KONOLL 7-inch Santoku Thunder-K Series: Handmade Professional Chef's Knife, German High Carbon Steel by Dawn Mattheis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty decent knife. Has a special finish

The knife is quite sharp and cuts well. It's certainly not fantasy, but it's definitely not bad quality. This should be a good entry-level knife for someone who has just moved out of the house and is looking for an inexpensive knife for everyday use. Pros: - Not very expensive. - Sharp out of the box. - Well balanced. - Not very difficult. Cons (subjective): - The raw wood handle doesn't feel very comfortable. I was expecting it to be finished but it seems I just didn't pay enough attention to the pictures. The rivets stick out a bit on mine too. - The blade has a strange finish. Not "clogged" part. If you look at the picture I've attached, the blade looks like it has something designed to dull it. I have no idea what it's about. I have included a picture of this knife with another from the same manufacturer so you can see the difference. Other thoughts: The knife stays "sharp" for a relatively long time. That doesn't mean it's razor sharp, but it will definitely cut for a long time between sharpening sessions. If you have crazy sharp knives all the time, this might not be for you. This knife was more expensive than other knives from the same manufacturer and I prefer others. It seems they gave this blade a strange matte finish that adds to its value. Probably a good knife if you go camping and aren't afraid of getting hit.
