I work a lot with wood and need a sharp pencil to mark the material. I'm tired of searching my shop for small plastic and metal pencil sharpeners and the fact that they usually give me a sharp edge but tend to break before they get sharp. It works well. I decided to take this model instead of the adjustable one because I thought it would be more accurate and give me a spot centered on the line. Well, it gives me a very sharp point, but it's off-center. It tends to be slightly off-center. Not that it couldn't be used or that the wood part of the pencil got too close to the tip but not centered. I've sharpened different brands of pencils, so it's not the pencil, it's the sharpener. When you use it to sharpen a pencil it really grabs the pencil and pulls it into the mechanism until it is very sharp. It looks like it'll chew through a pencil much quicker than it would in your hand, but it definitely beats you when it comes to sharp points.
