I use GRK screws when I can (that is, when they are right for the application and the size I need is available ). They're hardened so they won't twist under torque and the heads won't slip out (and then loosen) like some other screws (even with Torx heads). They're not indestructible, but seem to be more durable than Swan Secure, GripRite, and other brands I've tried. It works as intended for drilling _closer_ to the edge without splitting the wood than other screws (by design) but it has its limitations. The downside is that they are more expensive than other screws and are not always a specific size. I would love to but they make up for it many times over with the disappointment that saved me without breaking or disassembling.
