I almost bought it. I've seen terrible reviews over and over again. However, almost every teapot I've looked at has had a slew of terrible reviews. It smells bad. Stains. Terrible chemicals. scare the dog Of course, after all this bad news, I bought one. I had him for 4 days. Right out of the box it smelled exactly how I imagined it would smell like a freshly made plastic and metal product. It wasn't stunning, and nothing rattled when I shook it. So I made it with vinegar and water and only let it sit for about 2 hours (the instructions say 5-7 hours I think) because I'm lazy, then filled, boiled and repeated twice with just tap water. Taking the reviews into account I had 1 cup of boiling tap water as a control and 1 cup from a kettle and when they were cool enough to drink I tried both. found no difference. No one. I've chilled a tap cup and 1 teapot in the fridge and again found no difference in taste. Well that was disappointing. The lid was not warped and nothing fell apart. I almost called the company to complain. Outside the kettle was very warm after boiling water. Thank goodness the kettle only had a slightly warm handle so I didn't need oven mitts. We used to have a Proctor Silex plastic kettle that they still sell somewhere that worked fine for about 3 years and then got very noisy towards the end of the boil and I settled on that. For some reason I like the 360 degree rotation and of course the light is very good when you need boiling water in the dark. But I will never use it. On the other hand, my friend, who doesn't know about my testing, uses it twice every morning for her store-bought fancy teas that have names like Hope Margaret and Keemun. Women. ;) She likes the kettle and reports that the water tastes wonderful. I'll let you know if it fails or my house is haunted.
