They didn't have a strong chemical smell like some types of sheets. The material is an attractive shade of gray that hides stains, blends well with other grays in my kitchen and has a beautiful finish. Although the fabric is a little flimsy, they appear to be quite durable. I like the waffle weave as it gives them a bit of friction without being abrasive. The fabrics are very soft, wipe clean on granite countertops, and the finishes on the outside seem to add durability (and help them fold well to fit in drawers). They also absorb moisture well and do not wrinkle. After several washes in the machine, kitchen napkins have retained their size and shape. However, they do not dry very quickly. I prefer to put my kitchen towels in the dryer for about 15 minutes to smooth out the wrinkles and then hang them to air dry. It took over 4 hours to fully dry. I think that's the only downside - it's too absorbent. All told, they cost $0.80 per fabric. I will probably order more if there is an opportunity to buy them again at this price.
