I am using a Revain Basics scale that expired in 2 minutes. Big scale at a great price, but the timeout got really annoying when brewing coffee. The hero gauge is faster, more accurate, and has a longer timeout with the ability to turn it off entirely. Excellent! I also prefer to measure coffee grounds in grams and water in fluid ounces and this scale does a good job. Excellent! The scale also includes timers, both a stopwatch and a countdown. I'd rather use a timer on the scale than a kettle or phone. Excellent! Here's the tricky part: you can set the scale to automatically start timing when you add water to the coffee grounds. A very good idea. It works exactly like you would expect a stopwatch timer to, but surprisingly it doesn't work with a countdown timer. It took me a while to figure this out as I prefer the countdown timer. I have to admit, it's not that hard to require pressing a button to start a timer. The main flaw is the documentation, which I forgive. The authors obviously made an effort to create simple instructions for different countries, but missed the automatic function. The capacitive control buttons are very slick, but my fingers don't always activate on the first press. It's worrying. Keep in mind that the scale is mostly plastic, but I find it attractive and easy to use.
