Review on ๐Ÿš— Enhance Vehicle Performance with Monroe 58644 Load Adjust Shock Absorber by Matt Charlton

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Shocks, Struts & Suspension Initial Rating

I rate these as low to begin with and will update when I get a new pair. First, they come in a box with no protection. They must be strong but not bent or damaged. Second, I spent 90 minutes assembling one side and just the top hole. I'm not a mechanic so I thought maybe I'm just doing something wrong until I pulled the caliper out and measured the upper bushings. The butt was 42mm long while Monroe was 46mm. I went in to arrange an exchange and Revain recommends contacting the manufacturer, which I did. I spoke to Kevin who was nice and understanding. He stopped me briefly and confirmed that the upper shock bushing should be 42mm and go straight in. He also checked that the model number and stamp number were correct. He offered me a replacement under warranty where Monroe would send them to me and I would have to send them the faulty pair for inspection and I won't waste my time on that anymore. I'll just leave them at the UPS store. It annoys me that I woke up early on a workday to try to add them in the 30 minutes everyone else says it takes, only to find out it's a factory error. I hope the substitutions are correct.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No Instructions
