Weller Brass Sponge Soldering Tip Cleaner, 5-pack My husband has been a solderer since he was young and continues to do so professionally, designing, testing and prototyping electronic circuits. He's been using one of these Weller bra sponges for over two weeks and says they're fantastic! In particular, their twisting and wrapping makes it easier to insert a soldering iron tip into brass spirals. After 4 or 5 repeated dips, it will be clean and shiny, with all oxidation and excess solder removed, and no need to repeatedly flip and rub like you would with a damp sponge. Not only that, it doesn't cause thermal shock to the soldering tip alloy, which can shorten tip life more than even some pros realize. A final note on this: the brass spools held up very well and didn't crack or chip like some cheap brass sponges. Highly recommended.
