Exactly as it should be

, I'm an engineer now, working from home and doing a lot of soldering around here. My old soldering irons were in pretty bad shape so I bought this kit to get them in shape and keep them that way. That. Just buy this set and take care of your tips first! I have never had a problem with a Weller product and one of my irons is 25 years old.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Dear

Great sponge alternative for my Weller micro tip

I've always had trouble with blast chilling my little Weller (the one with the MP131 tip) that I use for soldering parts. The brass wool cleans the tip very quickly without cooling it down, making my tips last longer and completing my projects faster. It was just five individually wrapped balls of brass wool - not a small holder - but I ended up using a 2" nozzle. Adapter on a threaded pipe as a holder and it was functional! Maybe someday I'll print a custom holder, but if it doesn't break.

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something

Buy these if you currently use a wet sponge when soldering!

These scrubbers have changed my life. I was too ambitious and built 12 RC hobby cars over the course of about 3 months during the 2020 mandatory lockdown. As the months went by my need for solder repairs/rebuilds became overwhelming. My solder joints looked shit then and also conducted. This was when I used a damp sponge to remove corrosion from the tips. These sponges gave me the confidence to continue this exciting hobby. I'm not saying I'm the best solderer, but I'm the best solderer I've…

Once you've settled on Copper Eggs, you won't be coming back.

If you still clean your soldering tip with a damp sponge, you're living in the Middle Ages my friend. Save yourself that and buy a set of 5 brass balls from Weller at an amazingly low price and you'll forget about the dirty, lame, inefficient wet sponge you suffer from. Seriously, these little guys are far more efficient at removing the dirt from your soldering iron tip, and they do it without unnecessarily cooling the tip. They work better, faster and help extend the life of your iron and its…

Prefer them to a regular wet sponge, 5 lasts a decade.

I grew up soldering. First I tried it with an ordinary yellow wet sponge. But let's face it, without a little abrasion you don't knock off the dirt you need on the iron tip. Not as hard as steel wool, but good enough to wet the tip, rake it into one of these, and you're shiny and clean again. I have one that came with my station but I've noticed it's getting crooked so I'll be flipping it but it might be a sign that I'll need to replace it soon. Don't know how often you really need new ones…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Zero

This brass sponge tip cleaner from Weller works great. I was a little skeptical when I first saw them, but after using them I was impressed. I'm new to soldering and love it, but I've had trouble keeping the tip clean. It's very easy to use, just run the tip of the iron over the sponge and that's it. Compassion is pure. This sponge is non-abrasive but quickly and easily removes residue from my soldering iron tip. It cleared the hot tip while I was using it. It also cleaned the tip as it cooled.

  • Package Dimensions: 7.5L x 2.0H x 5.0W (inches)
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

Brass wool is better than any damp sponge!

Weller Brass Sponge Soldering Tip Cleaner, 5-pack My husband has been a solderer since he was young and continues to do so professionally, designing, testing and prototyping electronic circuits. He's been using one of these Weller bra sponges for over two weeks and says they're fantastic! In particular, their twisting and wrapping makes it easier to insert a soldering iron tip into brass spirals. After 4 or 5 repeated dips, it will be clean and shiny, with all oxidation and excess solder…

PRODUCT DETAILS: Weller Sponge Tip Cleaner for Brass 5-Pack (WLACCBS-02) (ASIN: B08FPQYFS8): Price at time of review: $22.90 ✅ Tight weave ✅ Brand name and quality ❌ Expensive (and a 2 star -Discount for that!) *I don't know why the WELLER name makes the turned brass ball so much more expensive than the unnamed brands. I have a brass cleaner with no name and now I have Weller brand brass tip cleaning balls. Apart from the fact that WELLER's brass cleaners are perhaps a bit thicker, I don't see…
