Review on AQUATICLIFE RO Buddie Plus DI 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis Deionization Unit 50 GPD for Aquatic Environments by Latoya Luckett

RO/DI quality for my aquatic plants and tropical fish

I use this product for several established nano aquariums. If I had more space and more tanks I would probably go for a larger membrane unit to support 100 gallons/day but I went with the budget 50 gallons/day unit and it suits my needs perfectly ( 30 gallons and a few other 10-15 gallons). fresh water systems). At my inlet pressure and room temperature, this unit delivers 5 gallons of water at 0 TDS for every 2 hours of operation fairly consistently, and the listed effluent expectation is almost accurate to me. Some considerations to make if you are considering purchasing this aquarium product etc: 1. Expect a lot of support for this product. I had a few specific questions which I emailed the water people and they responded within 24 hours and in some cases just a few minutes. Quickly Google the words "[insert city name]chloramine" and do a little research to see if your hospital uses chloramines. If you're like me, they're also used in high concentrations, so after 3 filtration steps (just before you go to DI) you'll see some traces of chloramines, possibly chlorine, and you might even pick up some ammonia. in the standard test set. You may find that all of these are connected as part of the treatment process in your community. Maybe you don't care In any event, these elements were eliminated from my water production after the DI stage, but to my knowledge your membrane will suffer from dealing with these additional contaminants, which is why Aquatic Life recommended the addition of KDF85 (available here: https://www. amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPV465U/) between sediment and cartridge.3. If you connect everything correctly, make clean cuts on the hose, and make sure you can feel the hose inserting once and then a second time after pushing hard, you'll know you have a solid connection with no leaks. I've been using this product for a few months now and even after a few hits my unit is leak free and quiet. Aquatic Life has a nice YouTube demo of this that will get you up and running in about 15 minutes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avZE7eZRwrM)4. Make sure you understand that you must take steps to remineralize and buffer the water produced by this device when used for aquatic life. This is the default for any RO/DI installation. However, if you are only using this to make drinking water then this can be achieved by eliminating the DI step of the process which is really easy to customize to your liking with the flexible tubing that connects this thing.
