Description of AQUATICLIFE RO Buddie Plus DI 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis Deionization Unit 50 GPD for Aquatic Environments

ZERO TDS WATER- Produce up to 50 gallons of zero TDS water every 24 hours at an affordable price with the RO Buddie plus DI model, The RO Membrane will remove up to 98 percent of the TDS in water and the DI Mixed Bed Resin will remove the remaining TDS. SEDIMENT REMOVAL - The five-micron sediment filter cartridge traps particulate matter like dirt, silt, and rust with will affect the taste and appearance of the water. CARBON FILTRATION - The five-micron activated carbon reduces chlorine and conditions the water prior to the RO membrane. MEMBRANE FILTRATION - The RO membrane reduces impurities known as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) from the water down to a ratio of 1 out of 10,000 of a micron, reducing arsenic, lead, parasitic cysts, copper and more. DEIONIZATION - The color-changing deionization mixed-bed resin removes the remaining TDS from the membrane filtered water.

Used for drinking water

This system was actually cheaper to buy than replacing the cartridges in my Watts reverse osmosis system. It works very well and produces 0ppm water. For drinking water, an activated carbon filter must be retrofitted at the outlet, since 0 ppm water also has no taste. The charcoal raises the dissolved solids to around 30ppm, but the water tastes great. When using a water storage tank, a check valve must be added to prevent the tank from flowing back through the reverse osmosis medium and…

Great system for a low price but a few notes

I've had this system for about a year and a half. Bought to make RODI water for my reef tank. For the most part it was great. It is much cheaper than other RO/DI systems. It only produces 50 gal/d (many standard systems make 75) but is easy to upgrade in the future (I upgraded mine to 75 gal/d with a 75 gal/d diaphragm and a larger flow restrictor). What I would be wary of is the cap on the DI cartridge. The cartridge can be refilled when the resin runs out and the other day when I was…

Works great for 3 months. Solid choice.

My experience with this RODI filter has been really good so far. I've had it for about 3 months and I've probably used it to fill a 5 gallon jug about 20 times, that's about 100 gallons of pure water and I'm still getting 0ppm readings, and that's with my tap water 420 ppm. This is my second RODI on a budget, I didn't want to buy it back in 2016 because of the many reviews. My first was a POQ-4B-50 from the PureWaterDirect Club at Revain and it worked really well initially, but after changing…

Cons
  • Communication with seller

I wanted to write a review on this because I felt misled by many things after operating it and I was very concerned about flushing money down the toilet. First, the 50 gallon unit doesn't work. Don't produce 50 gallons of water per day because most of the water you put in is wasted (good to bad water ratio of 1.4 to 3.6). It produces about 14 gallons per day. 36 liters go down the drain. Since the unit (4 stages RO+DI for 50 gallons) cost me about $60 and the carbon filter only fits 1500…

Connecting and installing is easy

Bought last week, arrived today. It's pretty easy to connect and install, especially if you watch the YouTube installation videos. The only additional purchase was from Home Depot for a threaded adapter for my kitchen faucet because my faucet is not 3/4". I had it installed and had water running in under ten minutes. It takes about an hour and a half to press 5 Gallons of purified (filtered) water and produces about 5:1 wastewater to produced water The great thing about this unit is that it…

RO/DI quality for my aquatic plants and tropical fish

I use this product for several established nano aquariums. If I had more space and more tanks I would probably go for a larger membrane unit to support 100 gallons/day but I went with the budget 50 gallons/day unit and it suits my needs perfectly ( 30 gallons and a few other 10-15 gallons). fresh water systems). At my inlet pressure and room temperature, this unit delivers 5 gallons of water at 0 TDS for every 2 hours of operation fairly consistently, and the listed effluent expectation is…
