This lapping tool works well on large valves but not on smaller valves. A 20 minute job turned into a 2 hour job. I used this valve lapping tool on a Briggs and Stratton 16 HP single cylinder OHV lawn tractor engine. The large suction cup on the tool was too big to fit the exhaust valve (which is smaller than the fuel inlet valve) so I had to use the smaller end of the suction cup tool to lap the exhaust valve. It doesn't take up much at all. It kept coming from the valve and I kept having to clean the suction cup and valve. If abrasive (even the smallest amount) gets under the suction cup, it's game over. The suction cup comes off. I had to keep a small container of water on hand to constantly wipe down the suction cup and valve head. How painful. It took me almost 2 hours to grind the valve and valve seat together perfectly. Blow! Lapping the fuel inlet valve worked great with this tool. The small suction cup had more surface area to grip due to the larger fuel inlet valve and greater suction power. Took me about 10 minutes to grind the fuel inlet valve. So I would say this tool works well for larger valves. Not so much with small valves.
