Review on πŸ”¨ Unleash the Power: Dead Tools Gear Destroyer Black - The Ultimate Tool for Demolition by Richard Counts

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice and big if that's what you're looking for, but definitely a bit uncomfortable

The package is big, maybe a little bigger than I expected, but it has everything I need. It seems to be well made of high quality materials, the bottom has nice texture and will definitely stand up to a working environment, and the backpack stands up very well on its own. I'm a stagehand and I often have AV gear that's little more than the small screwdrivers that most tool backpacks seem to fit, so big bags are a breath of fresh air. I love that the pack opens completely at the front. This makes it very easy to identify the tools and equipment you need and take what you want without having to take everything out. Attachment points on the outside are also good for tape, carabiners and gloves. It is even suitable for personal protective equipment, including a full hard hat. The side pockets are large enough for small items and even snacks, and the left one also holds a water bottle. The mobile phone pocket is also ideal for holding a laser measuring device, although I would have liked a hard-covered outer pocket for glasses and/or other valuables. Unfortunately, after loading it up with Qbox, voltage tester, pliers, 11 in 1, wrench, focus tool, hammer, tape measure, poger, 12V drill or 2 and other adapters/little things it gets very heavy (but everything sorts!). Keep in mind that it starts at over 7 pounds, which is a lot for a backpack that's equivalent to at least a couple of these tools. The carrying straps also leave a lot to be desired in terms of carrying comfort. I didn't find them particularly short, as other reviewers have mentioned, but the padding is narrow (read: not thin, actually quite thick, but only down the middle of the back straps, not the full width) and mates with no middle stabilizing strap or hip belt , it is very inconvenient to carry it for periods other than a short walk from point A to point B. The extra depth of the pack also made it feel very heavy on my back when loaded, like falling on my back from a light gust of wind. The zippers in the main compartment also get stuck when you open them, but that will probably come loose after a short break. Overall I want to like it but ultimately I will get a pelican case for my specific purpose.

Pros
  • Claw hammers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other pickaxes
