Review on πŸš— High-Performance Pneumatic/Manual Oil Extractor Pump (15L) for Efficient Automobile Fluids Vacuum Evacuation by Andrew Holman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best tool I've had in my workshop arsenal in a long, long time

All my life I've been old-fashioned when it comes to changing the oil. Put the car on ramps, remove the skid plates, crawl on your back to remove the drain plug, etc.) However, after reading more and more about the oil suction AND that my car is a pain in the ass, I decided to stop the oil to change Try this oil separator. Since this is my first time changing the oil, I used a puller to drain it until it was completely drained. The oil was warm (driven the car for about 10 minutes before changing the oil to prevent the bad stuff in the oil from working). I used the pneumatic method (with my compressor) to drain it and when it started showing almost all of the oil was gone. inside the tube, I gently moved the probe's suction tube up and down a bit to make sure there was nothing left. Then I put a drain pan under the car and removed the oil drain plug to see what was left. To prove it works. I was pleasantly surprised that my fears were unfounded. After 10 minutes of draining, a maximum of 1/16 cup of oil remained. This is not a problem as no one can ever dump all the used oil out of the oil pan. I also tested the unit with a hand pump and my compressor and was impressed with how quickly it pumped out oil as well. So. A compressor is not necessary, but if you have one, use it. I will note that I have read a lot about people who cannot change the oil themselves because they live in an apartment or an apartment building. To you guys, I'm telling you, this could be your ticket. It's clean to use, self-contained, and after changing the oil and filter, you can take the unit to your local auto parts store or oil refinery and dispose of it. Chances are the neighbors (or your housing manager) won't even know what you're doing when you're using this range hood. My car uses 9 liters of oil so I bought a large 15 liter unit. These units have level markings so you can easily see how much oil you have removed and therefore know when your oil is about to run out. After yesterday's oil change I put a new washer on the drain plug, installed it and will not be removing it again. Hooray. This will be especially useful in the winter when I live because crawling on cold concrete when it's 20F outside is not my favorite activity. My car has an oil filter that is mounted on top of the engine so I don't have to get under the car with the oil scraper throughout the oil change process. If you own (or want to become) a car with your own hands, you should pay serious attention to one of these devices. Especially if you don't trust quick grease points to get the job done right (nobody should).

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Not everything fits
