Big and Poop falls through

I have a 6 lb mini lop. She has a cage as her home base. I measured and this tray was the perfect size to fit in her cage in her chosen potty spot. It goes from the back wall to the front. She could lie in it if she wanted to. I'm glad this one doesn't have a drawer as that would make it difficult to clean the way I use it. I don't use washcloths. The pods contain a lot of plastic and are eco-friendly, not to mention they're more expensive compared to junk. I simply put a thin layer of pine pellets on the floor. I cover the pine pellets with a plastic drying mat and then put the plastic grate back on. The droppings fall through the plastic grid onto the drying mat and the urine falls into the stone pine litter. To clean, after removing the plastic grate, I bend the dehydrator mat slightly and pour out the food. Then I rake out the dirty filler and add more. Since switching to this bowl I waste a lot less rubbish and a lot less hay. How do I save the hay? Well, my rabbit doesn't like the feel of pine pellets (or paper pellets), so she takes it upon herself to cover everything with hay. She doesn't do that with this tray! The only design changes I can suggest are: 1) making the plastic mesh on the back firm/smooth so it can be easily wiped clean. 2) Lower the bottom about an inch to pick up more dirt.

Pros
  • Removable slatted floor
Cons
  • thin
