Review on πŸ” Enhance Your Viewing Experience with Vortex Optics Raptor Porro Prism Binoculars by Claudia Muhammadi

My problem was that I wanted good optical quality but couldn't afford to pay a lot

I did a lot of research online before buying. My problem was that I wanted good optical quality but couldn't pay much; I wanted something compact that I could take with me off-road and when traveling and something that would go well with my glasses. I've come to the conclusion that Raptors 8.5x32 look their best on paper. I'm not disappointed. Image clarity is excellent, reminding me of a pair of Bausch & Lomb 7x50s from the 1960s (when B&L made them), but without the weight and bulky size of that old pair. I looked closely for barrel or pincushion distortion and couldn't find it. When looking at the stars, the images focus on a very small point from edge to edge. The color correction looks great. When looking at a light source off the optical axis, there isn't much reflection from internal elements (ever used cheap binoculars from high stands in a stadium at night where the lights are opposite?). The appearance is matter-of-fact and pleasant, and they look very well made. The only problem was getting the straps through the pawls on the frame, which was solved by threading them through a needle and thread. Focusing is a little stiff, but I definitely prefer it sloppy and loose. I expect to use them happily for a long time.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Some small things
