Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced ProForm 66844 Balancer for Connecting Rods by Rip Twin

Bearing needs adjustment/replacement

All in all a great tool for those who do a lot of engine repair work themselves; especially if you are not using new aftermarket parts that have already been balanced. The bearing inside the corrector itself is slightly misaligned (out of alignment), causing any rod placed on it to not measure correctly, as the rod bushing is not fully supported by the corrector's rollers (because it is not installed). I had to push the balance arm against the bearing to make it "level". Pretty disappointing considering you're spending over $200 for what is essentially an aluminum plaque with a stainless steel shaft and a measuring arm with a bearing on it (simple design). You would think that they receive this small but important component directly during the production process and also check it during quality control (e.g. actually test the scale with the device after assembling). I highly doubt this was the case, most likely another cheap Chinese made product that went through QA/QC before being sold here.

Pros
  • Designed for connecting rods
Cons
  • Out of fashion
