
The plastic is too soft for continuous use. These things always fail the same way. The plastic rod that pulls the suction away from the windshield so it sticks stretches out over time and creates less suction. I typically get 9 months to a year without a repair. Why these people don't make this part out of metal so it doesn't stretch I don't understand. It is desirable to have a metal thread with an adjustment screw so that any play can be taken up by allowing the locking lever to move freely on the suction cup. So you can imagine my surprise when yesterday I found my Garmin lying on the dashboard and a clear indication that the suction cup had a gap between it and the frame. Not even 30 days. Let's hope the second one is better than 30 days.
