It is very difficult to change the band, but I get so many extras on this band that it was worth the effort to change the band. I also spoke to several friends who had the same problem. The great thing is that after replacing it, it is 100% reliable and does not feel weakened. I have very small wrists and it fits well without removing any links (loose but still comfortable; Fitbit still works accurately). **If you have large wrists I would caution you against purchasing this bracelet.**
