Great pump for adding homemade filters:

I installed a small 35 gallon pond on a small budget so I decided to give this pump a try. After a month of continuous use, I'm still very happy with it. Some details that I think could be clearer in the list: The pump inlet is on the front dial where the flow is regulated so you can't feed from the filter box through the hose into the pump. However, I quickly found that it was very easy, efficient, and inexpensive to take a roll of aquarium filter media, cut it into small rectangles (about 5" x 6"), wrap them around the front air intake, and hold mine Hands. Square with a rubber band. This filters the water as it is sucked up so the pump doesn't get clogged with debris. Also much cheaper than buying a separate filter unit or a pump/filter combo. The output is pretty good, but didn't give me the perfect, soothing, sloshing sound when I placed it at the bottom of my 15" deep pond. What's surprising is that the power delivery is perfect for one of my reusable silicone straws (something big, smoothie-sized) to increase the power output a bit. rigged but at this price I'm not complaining. It totally meets my needs at a super cheap price. I should also note that I've got this I don't treat water with any chemicals, only barley straw, and even in a hot South Carolina summer in a natural pond, this pump works perfectly.
