I confess I didn't have high expectations for this product at first. Especially for my thick, naturally curly hair. But I have to tell you that I was REALLY impressed with this heated brush. First, I applied a heat protectant to damp hair. Then I dried it with a hair dryer. When it was dry I split it in two and attached the top half with pins. I ran this brush through the bottom half in small areas. I found that each section took a few strokes with the brush to straighten it to my liking. The glove that comes with the kit is very useful as it allows you to hold your hand over the bristles to ensure maximum heat input into the hair with each brush stroke. I repeated the process with the top half of my hair. I have A LOT of hair and using this comb instead of a traditional flat iron took less time (maybe 15 minutes?), required a lot less precision or concentration, and I feel like there was a lot less risk of damage because you're not squeezing yours Hair. Hair between two plates and pull. For me the results were mostly straight with little wave. As I mentioned before, my hair is naturally curly so it's 100% frizzy after drying. (Especially when I need a haircut so badly thanks to Covid.) So I was VERY happy with this result. Maybe it's less reliable for multi-day wear than when straightened with a flat iron, but I think that's okay. However, good moisture protection is an absolute must. I love that my hair is thicker after using this comb. When I use it with a flat iron it becomes very flat in every way. So it was a nice change. This product reminded me of my childhood in the 80's. I *hated* my curly hair. My mom had naturally straight, beautiful hair and never knew what to do with my fluffy mop. She combed it and it just turned out huge. We'll tie him up and he'll still be huge. I remember it really bothered me. I've spent a lot of time braiding my hair in pigtails just to make it look "more normal". Such a comb would save both of us much grief. It has enough tameability in a fairly low-risk format. I have two boys myself so I don't have any kids to try it out but I think it would be a great option for parents of kids with hair like mine. As long as the child is old enough to sit still and be patient for 15-20 minutes while mom or dad combs their hair, this would be great for taming frizzy or fluffy hair. A much safer alternative to an iron or even a hair dryer. I really have nothing but good things to say about this product. I have a lot of hair and have used a lot of styling tools. This one was one of the easiest to get such a good result. And in this price range? It's a steal for what you get. I think it would be great for kids too. I highly recommend this heated brush!
