I purchased this drive from Revain through Buffalo Technology to use on my Mac mini (the internal DVD drive has failed). about two months and has recorded about 50 CDs and about 60 DVDs so far. I've also played several CDs on it and watched several DVDs. It only works with one USB power cable on both my 2009 Mac mini (model 3.1) and 2008 13" MacBook (model 4.1). The other USB cable runs neatly under the DVD drive and is invisible. The drive has a low profile and produces minimal noise. An LED shines through the top rear slot in the case.A blue light (bright enough and pretty smooth in my opinion)indicates enough power, while red means you've got a second USB cable for need to use extra power, the only way I can eject disc is by clicking "Eject" on my computer (the button on the DVD drive itself doesn't respond when a DVD is in it), it definitely didn't work for me one problem. It just caused some confusion when I first used it. It works as expected and is more aesthetically pleasing than I thought it would be. Overall I'm very happy with the price (I paid $37.88) ie he quality, functionality and convenience of this product and highly recommend it.
