Agree with other commenters I would add a few thoughts on this product to consider: 1. If you are using a smaller gauge wire, enlarge a piece Heat shrink tubing over the insulator to fill the diameter and fill the lead wire clamp and provide some strain/flex relief.2. Yes, the wire could be fixed better here. If you solder it, pay attention to how it fits back into the connector, heat the other end to prevent the safety plastic tip from melting, use a good flux and ram the heat, it will stick. I think a thin shim of copper might be the best way to do this. Also, you don't have to solder it if you make a decent wrap. When the plastic cover is in place, it appears to be securely attached. I was able to get 5A @ 12VDC through the connector with no problem.
