Review on Enhanced INNOVA 3145 Ford Digital OBD1 Code Reader: Optimize Diagnostics for Your Ford Vehicle by Haji Anderson

It works; BUT the best in diagnostic, testing and measuring tools

Let me give credit first where needed. The product works and is easy to use! I managed to recover the codes. Some connections are in the car, mine was in the engine compartment. I was able to do whatever was necessary to successfully complete the test. BUT I have 2 negatives associated with this product. When I first plugged the reader into the connector in the engine bay, nothing happened. When I unplugged it I found that 2 of the 4 pins were plugged into the reader. Pure garbage. So I opened it up to see what was broken. To my surprise, the wires and connections remained intact. I put them back in place and taped the reader back in place. I plugged it back into the port but the pins are back in the reader. The tiny blades where the wires connect to the plastic are too small I think and don't hold the connectors in place. I used alligator clips on the ends of the pins to pull out the codes. Second, the booklet fell apart the moment I opened it to read the instructions and again when I read the code glossary. The book is also poorly written. I see you can download instructions from the site, but why? It comes with a booklet. (was the download retrospective or did they know beforehand) I see now that you can buy an extension cord, this will certainly make it easier to use, then I see that others are having the same problem with the pins and using the cord. So it's definitely a design and connection issue. If they fix this and fix the problem then it's a great product for the price. They seem to care a little about the product, they fixed the cheap book by making download instructions. I will try to return the product but since I opened it and then re-taped it I doubt I will get a refund!
