I have an old Nuwave induction burner. I liked it so much that I decided to upgrade to this new model for a more accurate 5 degree temperature control. Unfortunately, I have to agree with some of the other reviews - the heating surface of this induction burner is too small. The actual heating area is not as large as stated on the burner label. This morning I used a 12 inch skillet to make pancakes. On medium heat, the center of the pancake caught fire, but the outer 3 inches of the pancake was so wet I couldn't flip it. (In comparison, when I make pancakes on the stovetop with this pan, it makes perfect pancakes with even browning from rim to rim.) Last night I baked chicken and dumplings in a 10-inch Dutch Oven. The 3 dumplings in the center of the pan were well done, but the dumplings around the outer 5 inches of the pan were mushy. I had to cook on the stove. This induction cooktop might work well for smaller pans, but if your everyday pans have a 10-12 inch bottom like mine, I don't recommend this unit. I love being able to adjust the temperature in 5 degree increments which gives me a lot more control than other induction appliances. I also like that the buttons are touch sensitive and easy to clean. I will try another test (high temp fry) with this burner. But since the old Nuwave induction burner I own already burns well, I will most likely be returning this machine.
