Review on Shop Now: Safety 1st Vintage Wood Baby Gate with Pressure Mount Fastening (Gray) - Protect Your Toddler Safely by Wendy Rodriguez

Doesn't work - no lock feature. Not broken, just junk.

I bought this baby gate for a new puppy to want to delineate certain areas of the home so he doesn't get overexcited (or lose him under furniture). These gates don't work at all. It doesn't look broken, it works as advertised - not a perfect design even if it worked - but the locking mechanisms don't create any pressure that actually 'locks' the sides of the gate in the doors. Walls in which to enclose them. As you can see in the photo I just moved it to the door and I use the crate and books/candles on the other side of the fence to hold it in place. I spent the better part of a very frustrating hour this morning getting this to work. I did it exactly as the instructions say. Everything snapped and separated as it should, but nothing matched. Without a feature to lock these gates in place, they are utterly useless. Also, the clip, which needs to be removed to open and "latch" the gate more tightly, will immediately chip the wood of the gate where the clip is when you remove and reattach it. there is immediate and noticeable wear with use. Just a waste of money. I had to get a plastic grid.
