Great adapter Overall

When I rented a townhouse a few years ago I bought a pair of TPLink av200 adapters (older 200Mbps adapters). I have never used them or even tried them. I recently pulled these out and finally tried them - they work great; but the throughput was basically the same as the WiFi I already have. The main need I have is better connectivity for some PS4 and older laptops. Wi-Fi was bad for them. The house we are in right now was not connected to Ethernet. I thought about rewiring it - it would cost about $350 and would require work all over the room to go around and cut/fix the drywall inside. Hiring someone else costs about $1200+. Instead, I bought 3 sets of TP-Link adapters for less than $200. And they did great. (Don't drill the walls of a two story house: priceless) CONS: The only real downside here is the size of the TL-PA9020P and TL-PA7010P kits. Both have a pass-through outlet, but they all block BOTH wall outlets. The picture online *looks* like you could use a second outlet, but you CANNOT. Adapters are too big. They have a pass-through socket, so you can use ONE socket. That seems to be a stupid design flaw. The AV1000 NANO version is smaller and requires 1 wall socket and I was able to use a second wall socket (they are smaller although the larger versions seem to have slightly better bandwidth). A NOTICE. They all depend on the wiring in your house. All my adapters are on different switches. This is said to be problematic and potentially impact performance. I had no problem with that - but you could. Depends on how your room is set up. Also if you have GFI/GFCI sockets this can also be a problem. These are jacks with TEST and RESET buttons if present. I don't have them anywhere that I need TPLink. PS4 gaming has improved a lot since I switched to Wi-Fi - faster, more reliable and with consistent bandwidth. The PA7010 adapters consistently seem to offer the best throughput of any kit/model I own. But the 9020's are similar and have 2 ethernet jacks if you need them. (My kids are leaving Fortnite less in anger: priceless! Okay, yes I was. last day or so) TL-PA9020P Passthrough Power Outlet KIT / 2 Ethernet 98Mbps down / 9Mbps upTL-PA7010P Passthrough Outlet KIT / 1 Ethernet 127Mbps down / 10Mbps up Mbps down / 3 Mbps up (partly due to an old laptop with a crappy build -in wireless adapter. Newer laptops I have usually go 80/6) connected directly to my switch/firewall for comparison. Somewhere between: 130 Mbit/s Down / 10 Mbit/s Up and: 96 Mbit/s Down / 8 Mbit/s Up
