Review on Lansky Natural Arkansas Ultra Small: Compact Sharpening Solution for Precision Blades by David Pullen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Five star performance but wrong listing

This is an excellent polishing stone that will give a factory sharp edge to almost any knife as long as it isn't chipped or badly dented. This is when you use the right bricks to shape it properly. Lansky is the best sharpener company for the money you will ever find. So if you want to know something about the product itself, it gets FIVE STARS. The problem with this listing is that it is not an "Arkansas" stone as advertised. It still works with Arkansas stone sets as this is the last stone polishing step you will be using. I bought this along with a set of three Arkansas bricks after using the standard five sets for my friends and the main benefit of Arkansas bricks is that they should last longer. They also remove slightly less metal compared to a regular stone of comparable grit and therefore can produce a slightly smoother edge, also this particular 1000 grit stone is so good that it will not affect the finished product when used in combination with an Arkansas -Set is used I do. That's why I'm not trying to return it to the seller. However, I have to tell you that regular stones still work wonders for a blade edge and I bought the Arkansas set because I'm a bit obsessed with my knives and if I can make a better edge I usually try . If you bang your knife a little, there are more whetstones in the regular pro five stone set that can change the shape of your blade much faster and actually get rid of some small dents and burrs entirely. So if you're inexperienced in sharpening knives, and I mean really sharp ones, standard stones won't hurt you. This is a standard stone that can give you a razor edge if used correctly.
