Comes fully assembled, installs like a light and takes approximately 10 minutes. Check out the video I've provided for a closer look and to hear the fan. The entire body sphere and fan blades are made of flexible, durable plastic. The entire unit weighs only 4-1/2 pounds. It reminds me of a standing fan with a ring of light around it. The fan itself is about 12 inches in diameter, then a small gap between the blades and the lightweight halo case, and finally the halo case makes up 18 inches in diameter. If you installed this in a light fixture control box controlled by a wall switch, the wall switch must be in the on position, supplying power and allowing the device to operate. The fan and light settings only work with the remote control. If you have a light and a fan, cycle the wall switch, the light will come back on with the settings you left, but the fan will need to be turned back on with THINGS I DON'T NEED: 1). . The fan shroud grille does not break off, making it easier to access the blades for cleaning. Instead, it screws to the top of the bracket. This way you can access the blades by climbing up the ladder and without removing the grate.2). Looks cheap and unfinished up close. Lighting wires are visible and are simply pushed into a spacer and pulled together with cable ties. A thick black remote sensor wire comes out of the ceiling housing and goes down to the light wires and pulls up. I routed the remote sensor cable back into the ceiling housing leaving only the sensor tip sticking out of the hole.3). The plastic ceiling housing has 4 holes to allow you to rotate the light as you wish, but only 2 holes are used to attach it to the metal ceiling bracket with 2 silver screws (preferably white). So the 2 unused holes are open black dots, I think they should be with white fill plugs. four). The remote control is simple and clear without instructions, but the lower bottom button doesn't work and there is a picture on it. When pressed, the instrument still beeps but does nothing and displays directions, so it's a regular remote control used for other purposes. Not a deal breaker, but without knowing that it would be confusing. Also, there is no wall mount for the remote control. This is a great solution for small spaces that don't already have a ceiling fan support beam installed. Overall this works for my application over my kitchen sink. Thanks very much!
