The only real difficulty with the installation is removing the front grille from the Jeep JL. There are videos on YouTube that I would watch before installing. You also need a rivet gun as others have described but I already had it so it didn't really matter. The problem for me was that I have a winch in the way of the grate and I had to loosen it and move it a little to allow the grate to extend, but that's not Bolt's fault so I didn't count it against her. As for functionality - after installation I put a lock on my jeep key and then locked it. A thief could of course open the side latches, but there doesn't seem to be a practical quick way to open the hood other than scrapping and breaking the hood. This prevents a random parking thief or maybe some weird junkie wandering the woods from taking your battery while you're parked in the woods. I personally could not tell the difference between the net with grid insert in the kit and the factory insert. Featured!
