My old apple corer is really old and I wanted a new one. The old one I have is from the 19th century and it's time to remove it. This works very well and can be used for other fruits and vegetables. For example, if I want to make something like a potato, I can just lower the core knife. To do this, loosen the wing nut and press it down. The only tool I needed was a Phillips screwdriver to attach the handle. There is a folded sheet with full instructions that should be read before use. There are some pictures, but no step-by-step instructions on how to peel and remove the core from, for example, an apple. I am very pleased with the performance of this small mechanical coring and trimming device. I love the bright red color that goes with many of the 1950s items I display in my kitchen. Apples are one of my favorite snacks. I used to buy them pre-cut and ready to eat, but now I can easily make them myself. After making a spiral out of this apple, I took a knife and cut through the middle to get the pieces. The perfect little machine that saves time, especially when you're baking cakes (I do!).
