Review on πŸšͺ Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Gate: Safeguard Your Stairs with Unparalleled Security by Kristina Perez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to install, solid and easy to use

This thing is solid and I'm very happy with it. We have this gate at the top of the stairs and there is another brand of tension gate at the bottom. Then I compare them a little. I found the instructions very easy to follow, so I'm thinking of YMMV. They even state how high off the ground both mounts should be. These gates can be mounted at a slight angle, which we needed, and give you the best possible rackmount options, whereas tension gates need to be at a 90 degree angle. The opening mechanism looks a bit older than more modern gates, but I find it simple and just as easy if not easier to open (press on the little wing nuts on either side and lift up. Instead of pressing two buttons and lifting the tension bolt). It just doesn't seem fussy. Let's see if our little one finds out in time. Unlike tension gates, you don't have to step over a pole and the gate opens fully unlike a smaller door. I almost feel like I have to turn sideways to get through the tension gate. At the top of the stairs it's nice to have full space and no obstacles. Overall I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Edit - after some time with the gate I'd rate it a 4.5 if I could. It's still very strong and easy to open/close, but I'm deducting half a star because the gate doesn't automatically lock when you close it. As with opening, you need to raise and lower the gate. I would still buy them for our situation (installing without a 90 degree angle on the banister at the top of the stairs limits our options for tension gates).

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Something different
