Costs money! for door and stair gates

Excellent quality and durability. We love them and have them in 4 places in the house! Not a very easy install, but it's nothing you can't do in about half an hour with a screwdriver and drill.

Good door Bad bolts

After several months of operation, we had to reduce the width of the door. The heads of the hex bolts were not loosened with a wrench. The metal has turned to pulp. Too soft, cheap. Now we have to buy another $100 gate because they skimped on cheap screws. Otherwise good goals.

Came with damaged gear.

I bought these to replace the ones I bought for my porch a few years ago. Halfway through the installation I discovered that the mounting screws weren't stainless steel like the original ones, so I had to disassemble an old pair to remove the stainless hardware. Also, the eyebolts were damaged so I couldn't mount the gate to the wall bracket. They were crushed.

Great, responsive company.

On Wirecutter's recommendation, we ordered two of these gates for our son and daughter-in-law's staircase. After looking for them in Columbus, Ohio without success, I contacted the company. They were very helpful and recommended I order from Revain. The gate arrived a day early and the YouTube videos were very helpful with the installation. We also ordered an optional kit with longer screws and mollys to secure the drywall installation. We were very impressed with the look and function of this…

GOOD PRODUCT BUT BAD INSTRUCTIONS

This gate is very well made and solves my problem in two places in my house. Prevents the dog from running off the porch, and the second saves him from cat food and a liter crate. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the instructions: they are not very well written or schematic. In fact, when I first installed it, I missed the important part of setting the required spacing. I ended up drilling self tapping screws to adjust the slide position. On the second purchase I barely noticed the…

Easy to install, solid and easy to use

This thing is solid and I'm very happy with it. We have this gate at the top of the stairs and there is another brand of tension gate at the bottom. Then I compare them a little. I found the instructions very easy to follow, so I'm thinking of YMMV. They even state how high off the ground both mounts should be. These gates can be mounted at a slight angle, which we needed, and give you the best possible rackmount options, whereas tension gates need to be at a 90 degree angle. The opening…
