Review on πŸ’Ž High-Tensile Strength Precision Shears for Jeweler's Metalwork by Wendy Rodriguez

Works very well on 24 gauge copper

I'm starting to work with metal for jewelry making. I have a ton of 24 gauge copper blanks that I've been experimenting with (stamping, stamping, soldering, etc.). But sometimes you want a blank with a slightly different shape and don't want to buy a whole bunch of them (or wait for an order to come in). For example, let's say I want a square with rounded corners (but it's not a circle) or a circle cut in half in a yin-yang shape. That's where they come in. (I'm sure I'll use them to cut copper sheets one day, but for now I only use them for smaller projects.) I usually trace the outlines I want to cut with a marker. (Thin, sharp ones are great for this) and then cut with these scissors. Of course, you then need to remove traces of the marker (acetone or rubbing alcohol will do) and file, sand or otherwise finish the edges so they aren't sharp. But these scissors are the easiest step in the process. They have worked great every time. They are very sharp, so use care when handling what you cut with them (and also how you store them). But they work fine, even for me (I have tiny hands and weak wrists). In any case, I'm glad I bought them. They do what I wanted and they didn't break the bank. (Note that I've only used them on 24 gauge copper so far. Obviously they cut thinner metal, but I don't want to speculate on how they work in thicker metal as I haven't tried it personally.)
